What is WIC?
WIC is a nutrition program for:
- Pregnant women
- Breastfeeding women
- Women who have been pregnant in the past 6 months
- Infants
- Children under age 5
WIC provides the following to eligible participants at no cost:
- Healthy foods
- Nutrition education and counseling
- Breastfeeding support
- Referrals to health care, immunizations, and community services
In Florida, approximately 500,000 participants are served by WIC each month.
Eligibility
You are eligible for WIC if you meet ALL of the following requirements:- You are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an infant, or a child up to 5 years of age
- You are currently living in Florida, but you do not have to be a U.S. citizen
- You have a nutrition risk that is determined by WIC staff
- You are income eligible*
