Florida Department of Health in Osceola County

Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB):

The Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) reaccredited the Florida Department of Health, which includes the Florida Department of Health in Osceola County (FDOH-Osceola), as an integrated health department for another five years. This seal of accreditation signifies that the unified Florida Department of Health, which includes the State Health Office and the 67 county health departments, meets or exceeds national standards for public health performance management and continuous quality improvement. The Department demonstrated a focus on accountability and performance to improve the health of communities throughout the state.

National accreditation for public health departments has been developed to promote service, value, and accountability to people, the communities in which they live and the organizations supporting those communities. The goal of the voluntary national accreditation program is to improve and protect the health of the public by advancing the quality and performance of tribal, state, local, and territorial public health departments. PHAB’s public health department accreditation process improves quality and performance within public health departments. Accreditation standards define the expectations for all public health departments wishing to become accredited. Learn more at www.phaboard.org.
