The Florida Department of Health in Osceola (DOH-Osceola) is responsible for the preparedness and response to any incidents or events (natural or man-made) that threaten the health of the people in Osceola County.
We are the lead agency for Emergency Support Function 8 Health and Medical Team (ESF-8) and have a representative present at the Osceola County Emergency Operations Center for the duration of an incident.
DOH-Osceola is engaged in a continuous cycle of planning, training, and exercises with community partners, neighboring counties, and other agencies to provide an effective response to various scenarios such as:
- Epidemiological isolation and quarantine
- Mass prophylaxis
- Special needs shelters
- Mass casualties
- Epidemiological surveillance and investigation
